Illoura College is committed to providing students with access to the technology required to successfully complete their studies.
High-speed internet is available across the campus to support learning, research, and access to online systems. While computers may be available during scheduled classroom sessions where required, Illoura College operates a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy. Students are required to supply and maintain their own laptop or computer for use both on and off campus.
Minimum Device Requirements
Students must ensure their device meets the following minimum specifications to support coursework and required software, including AutoCAD:
- Operating System: 64-bit Windows 10 (Windows 11 preferred)
- Processor: Intel i3 (8th Generation or higher) or equivalent, minimum 2.5 GHz (3.0 GHz or higher recommended)
- Memory (RAM): Minimum 8 GB (16 GB recommended; 32 GB recommended for advanced 3D modelling)
- Graphics Card (GPU): Minimum 2 GB, DirectX 11 compatible (8 GB recommended for AutoCAD and 3D applications)
- Storage: Minimum 10 GB of available space (SSD strongly recommended)
- Software: Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Microsoft Word) and Autodesk applications (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit)
- Internet Access: Reliable broadband internet connection
These specifications ensure students can effectively complete assessments and run the required industry-standard software.
Software Access
All enrolled students are provided with access to Microsoft 365 applications as part of their enrolment.
Students enrolled in RII course packages will also receive access to Autodesk software through a student subscription. This includes applications such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD 3D, and Revit, which are essential for course requirements.
Students who experience issues accessing Microsoft 365 or Autodesk software should contact the IT Helpdesk at helpdesk@illoura.edu.au.
Computer Skills Requirements
Students are expected to demonstrate basic computer skills, including:
- Using word processing software (e.g., Microsoft Word)
- Accessing and navigating online learning platforms
- Managing files and documents
- Using internet browsers and email effectively
Assessment Requirements
Most assessment tasks must be completed using a computer and reliable internet access. Students must therefore have consistent access to a suitable device and internet connection to meet course requirements and deadlines.
